August 10, 2024 - Blood cancer

🔺 How is my condition progressing?

Physiologically, it’s getting worse. Chemotherapy takes a toll on the entire body. I experience severe weakness, brain fog, occasional headaches, muscle pain, stomach issues, sensitivity to smells, numbness in my limbs—all in different combinations. In the beginning, I managed to recover between doses, but now it’s becoming harder.

🔺 How many chemotherapy treatments have I had?

Essentially, chemotherapy is just the administration of drugs that kill rapidly dividing cells. My doctors use different medications at different intervals:

At first, I received weekly spinal injections—powerful ones. A few days after each, I’d be completely wiped out, but I bounced back quickly. I had four of these.

Between those injections, I had three IV infusions of different medications. These were much lighter, some even had interesting effects 😉.

Last week, I finished a block of a new chemotherapy course. For five days straight, I received a drug through an IV. Doctors say it’s stronger than the previous ones, but honestly, those weren’t exactly “Sprite” either. I might have 2–3 more of these cycles, or maybe more.

🧪 Chemotherapy is rough, but it’s still the best option science has.

🔺 How do I feel right now?

Not great. Yesterday, I was hospitalized because I wasn’t feeling well for several days. A routine blood test showed a significant drop in blood components and signs of inflammation. In the evening, my temperature spiked above 38°C, but they’re giving me a lot of medications, plus platelet and blood transfusions to help me recover.

🔺 What are the next steps?

Before each new chemotherapy cycle, they will perform a bone marrow test to assess my progress. If this treatment course doesn’t show satisfactory results, then a bone marrow transplant will be necessary.

🔺 Do I need help?

Thank you, but not at the moment ❤️.

My treatment is completely free, and I’m deeply grateful to Lithuania 🇱🇹 for that. My family supports me, and my wife is working. If you want to contribute, you can simply buy something from my photo studio@photo_lav_pereiaslav or grab a burger at @lav_pereiaslav — consider it an investment in my recovery 😅.

That’s it for now—moving forward! 😎

A huge thank you to everyone for your support 🫂❤️
